Chapter 4: The Marketing Environment

The factors within the external environment that are important to marketing managers can be classified as social, demographic, economic, technological, political and legal, and competitive. Amway Global is established and is known in 8 different countries, which definitely identifies with the demographic factor. A company should really be worldwide and accessible to everyone.

I would say our competitors range from all department stores to Avon and soo on and so forth. Being that we are in a recession, people will tend to stick to what they know they want or really need. When competition becomes a factor, it can be difficult to market.

Technology is a critical factor in every company's external environment. For Amway, technology is crucial because we are an online shopping network. People need technology to even view our product. We dont have actual retail stores nore do we go door to door. We used to handle things that way when Amway was first established, but it has become more convenient for us to change where people shop.

Week 3: Ethics and Social Responsibility

It is said that being socially responsible means an organization shows concern for the people and environment in which it transacts business. These values are communicated and enforced by everyone in the organization. It is also said that organizations that consistently exhibit socially responsible tendencies may eventually gain a strong reputation that could pay dividends in the form of increased customer loyalty. At Amway Global, we hold team meetings where myself and fellow business partners communicate how we are spreading the word about our company and products. We hold these every week. There are thousand and millionaires in my company that make this commitment to attend these meetings and help motivate people because not only are they successful, but they wish to continue to be.

We have a meeting designated for our guests to come and we help them to get a better understanding of what we do and sell. We also have demos where we demonstrate how our products are beneficial to each and every person that may purchase them. For example, we sell a toothpaste by the name of Glister. This toothpaste is far better than Colgate or Crest, which when utilized for a demo, are proven to deteriorate aluminum foil. They also destroy and eat away at our tooth enamel, a fact that was conveniently left out by the American Dental Association. Then again, why would they inform people of something that is detrimental to their own income? Ladies and gents, we may have never needed dentists all these years =)

At Amway Global, we sell environmentally safe and healthy products. For example, we sell XS energy drinks. They are perfect for people who may have a condition like diabetes. I have suggested them to my great uncle, who has a high sugar count, yet still likes drinking energy drinks with excessive amounts of sugar and a lot of glucose. He is now a fan of XS, and he recommends them to all of his friends, some of which are actually diagnosed with diabetes, or just want to prevent health problems and live a healthy lifestyle. The only similarities between standard energy drinks and XS energy drinks are the caffeine, which is no different from the coffee or tea that the average new yorker may consume two to three times a day.

We show our consumers social responsibility by maintaining our commitments to these meetings, as well as using our own products. Practice what you preach, right? Also, we have an ethical and social responsibility to society at large. For instance, there is the Amway One by One Campaign for Children, which has helped more than 7 million children since it was launched in 2003.This campaign has helped the well-being of children by offering children the resources they need to live, achieve, learn and play.

Last but not least, Amway has a skincare and cosmetic line by the name of Artistry. Having said that, the Miss America Organization is the world's largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women. Together, through the ARTISTRY scholarship, we work to empower women to follow their dreams and achieve their goals.

week 2: strategic planning

Well, the way that I would say that my company is doing strategic planning is through its independent business owners.  An IBO (Independent Business Owner) is an independent contractor authorized to own and operate an independent business pursuant to an agreement with Amway Global. IBO's have a financial interest in the sale of Amway goods and services. They use us to market their products. We bring them to work, school, church, etc. People will be things when they see that the people promoting them are actually using them, unlike most celebrity endorsers.

One of our strategies  that us  IBOs use is we establish a temporary presence at a public location and sells directly to customers. Individual cans of ice cold XS Energy Drinks and XS Shots are a focus. At some venues, it may be appropriate to sell cases of drinks as well. These Events include (but are not limited to) the following types of venues:Concession Stand at a High School or College sports, such as football, basketball, track & field, soccer.A friend of mine is a professional kick scooter rider and I go to his events and promote xs drinks as well.

XS Gear is the official marketing resource of XS Energy Drink.  However, it is only sold through the IBOs . We help them sell and market their products more efficiently. The result has been an unprecedented surge in growth in Amway Global organizations. I encourage everyone to join us because its residual income and we make our own rules =)

Brief mission statement

I am an independant business owner of a company called Amway Global. Our goal is to better people's lives with scientifically proven healthy products, and to allow people to join us while assisting them in selling and promoting the products.  Is anybody a fan of the Orlando Magic? I have a fun fact. Amway Global actually owns the arena and the team.  The product that I will be following is one of the products that my company distributes, and it is called XS energy drink. XS energy's mission is to bring flavors that consumers love without the carbs and sugar. XS energy drinks have exact 0 carbs and 0 calories. They have only eight calories. How amazing is that? They are available in a variety of flavors, including three that are caffeine-free. All of the XS Energy Drinks, except the caffeine-free flavors, have 83 milligrams of caffeine.

Amway Global was founded in 1959 by Rich DeVos with his lifelong friend and business partner, the late Jay Van Andel. Amway Global operates in more than 80 countries and territories around the world, and enables more than 3 million people to own independent businesses, people such as myself ;-).
